Lagos Continental Hotel Celebrates Service Week

Service Week is an annual campaign of Lagos Continental Hotel which celebrates all the team members for bringing genuine hospitality to life.

It was all fun and creativity last week as the staff and stakeholders of Lagos Continental Hotel celebrated their annual service week. Service Week is a yearly activity of the five-star hotel to celebrate staff for efforts in delivering premium hospitality services to humanity.

This year, they celebrated the occasion between 25 October 2021 to 30 October 2021, with management spending time with employees in appreciation for what they do to deliver excellent service to guests.

On the first day of the week, the hotel’s management waited at the staff entrance to welcome employees with a special breakfast buffet to start their shifts actively. During the week, management teams also visited the Modupe Cole Memorial Child Care in Yaba and Ikoyi Prison. During both visits, the management of Lagos Continental Hotel presented gift items while also taking a tour of both facilities and pledging their support to the Child Care and the Prison to help transform the lives of both the children and inmates. In addition, the management of the hotel also hosted 15 Elderly People from the Old People’s Home to a special lunch.

Other fun activities that marked the Service Week included a Walk for Cleanliness, Talks on Health and Retirement Plan for employees, Games Day for staff, and Colleagues Fun Day at the Apapa Amusement Park. Employees also had the pleasure of being cooked for and served by various Heads of Departments of the hotel.

Speaking on the event, Mr. Karl Hala, General Manager of Lagos Continental Hotel said, “the annual service week is an opportunity for management to say a big Thank You to all our colleagues who stop at nothing in delivering the finest experience to every guest and each other. We recognize and appreciate their input to making Lagos Continental the best and allow them to have fun and refresh.”

Mr. Niyi Agoro, Human Resources Director of the hotel and the chief organizer of the event spoke to employees saying the service week was his favourite period in all the hotel’s yearly activities. In his words, “it is a time to give back and say Thank You to our wonderful colleagues for their dedication and passion while delivering excellent services every day.”

“We will continue to do this annually as we believe that as a hotel, it is the people who work here that create the extraordinary experience that our guests get to enjoy, and for that we are appreciative.”

Speaking to the corporate social responsibility that the event unveils, Mr. Randolph Ogbekhilu, the Public Relations Manager, added that the Service Week “also allows us to give back to the community. Hence, the visits to the Child Care facility, Ikoyi Prisons, and the special lunch for the elderly.”

He explained that, “the hotel does not exist on its own but it is part of the Lagos community and we have to play our role in seeing that this community grows as well.”
